I was relying on the Cross Trail 7R during a remote ski tour in the mountains when it failed completely. Without warning, the light wouldn’t turn on. At first, I assumed it was my mistake — maybe I’d forgotten to charge it. But once I made it back home using my partner’s headlamp, I checked and found the battery was fully charged. The unit just wouldn’t power on. This was a serious failure in a situation where dependable equipment isn’t just important — it’s essential. I was lucky to have someone else with me, but had I been alone, it could have ended very differently. I reached out to Silva support, explaining the issue and providing video evidence. Unfortunately, they refused to offer any help because I couldn’t locate the original receipt. Despite the clear fault, they wouldn’t stand over the product, offer any troubleshooting advice beyond generic instructions, or provide any goodwill solution. For a premium product marketed for demanding environments, I expected better. I’ve used Silva gear in the past and wanted to continue doing so, but after this experience I’ve lost confidence in both the product and the brand.

Rather than engaging with genuine customer feedback about a serious product fault, they’ve chosen to silence it. Disappointing to see a brand prioritise image over accountability. Reliable gear and honest support matter — especially when lives can depend on it.
