Quite a disappointing experience for me. The school indeed had a good reputation a few years ago, but unfortunately some choices of the institution have only caused the school to perish in quick and basic exercises. Wether you are passionate or not, it doesn’t matter, the only argument used to motivate us to stay is the old reputation of it.. the tools are not given correctly to continue working afterwards. The International Course is not worth it AT ALL. Go for it if you want to make friends (and yet, you might never see them after as most of my class left for a better cursus solution afterward), but certainly don’t go to make movies! Almost lost my passion with this one.
Hi! I was a student in the year 2022/2023 for the International Film Production program. Coming to this school was my first real experience abroad but all the teachers and the classmates made it feel like home from the start. I don't know why people had a bad experience from the school but I can tell you that I would have done everything again. It's the perfect school that leads you through every filmmaking aspect, such as scriptwriting or light equipments or camera department and how to direct actors. The teachers, who treats you like family, are super professional and with a lot of independent works in the Film Industry in Sweden and International; they are there in every moments of every project ready to help you from the simple things to the most difficult ones. In one year you can try and work on every roles on set and learn from everything until you find the ones you prefer. I came there without any practical skills of jobs on set and it was my first time living abroad and I can really tell you how much the people of the school made me feel safe and how much I enjoyed the lessons. I have never learn so much in just one year and I couldn't be happier. It was hardworking but it made me realize how the industry work and how deal with every situations on different sets. Stockholms Filmskola start as a school of beginners and lead you to an amazing knowledge of every aspect of the industry and the equipment furnished is super good!
I am reading in the last few days some bad reviews about the school. Unfortunately, in last year's international group there were 2 people who decided , due to lack of dedication, not to participate in all the school's projects, often leaving groups with less people, people never willing to carry bags with equipment, people abandoning the set due to "headaches," they then demanded the school's equipment , which the school kindly lent them, and broke it, claiming not to pay a small percentage on damages as per the contract signed by ourselves. Now their plan is to try to sling mud at the school. I will tell you what has been my own experience. I joined the school two years ago and had 2 incredible months, I never learned so much , practical experience, when I came home at night my brain was up in smoke because of how much I had learned. Afterwards I had a serious family problem that forced me to go back home to Italy, the following summer I asked to attend the school again and Anders, the boss who is attacked by these 2 students , agreed to let me take the course again without having to pay an extra euro . All the teachers are fantastic, they teach out of passion, in the school you create an incredible family feeling, I am so sad that it is over. I recommend to ANYONE to do this school, especially if you are a beginner, you will learn what it means to do this job.
I totally agree with my ex-classmate Alessandro. I spent a year in the international class and the amount of knowledge and practical skills I have received is insane. The teachers are super helpful, open, and sincere. The community is indeed family-like, I made the best friends in that school. ALMOST the whole international class was not only a super close and fun friend group but also great colleagues on set filled with creative ideas and enthusiasm. To enjoy the education you have to be an active and passionate participant. I am grateful to the school for everything that I know now, and for all the lifelong connections that I have made. I miss it a lot. Stockholm filmskola was super welcoming and it felt like home that is filled with film. Also, there is more than enough equipment, there is a variety and a good amount. I ❤️ Stockholm Filmskola and I recommend it to everyone.
I have been attending Stockholm Filmskola’s acting program and my experience of the school has been wonderful. I started this program feeling really nervous and unsure of how it was going to be, but everyone from the students to the staff welcomed me warmly right away. What I was most pleased with was the complete lack of judgement of everyone, there was a deep understanding of whichever your background was regarding film and acting. I was the youngest, started at 17 with not much experience, but there were other people who were much older than me with different levels of experience, and everybody was open and never arrogant for knowing more. Instead there was an enthusiasm and a hunger to learn from everybody, and the more experienced ones helped with care and love the new learners . The only thing evaluations were based on was the level of commitment we put in the present moment when we were at the school, the effort, the discipline and the passion we put into the projects. I never felt alone in this,I have been so supported and pushed to do my best by the staff, who never failed in giving me realistic feedback and motivating me to do better while still acknowledging my improvements and believing in me. Here I also met the most talented people but that were also humble and interested in you both as an artist and human being. Everyone here wants to create on a daily basis, suggesting projects also for our free time. I have done photo shoots, dance sessions and movies outside of school with the friends I met here and I got so enriched by all of it! The location is great, the place is large and luminous with professional equipment, everyday I was excited to get to school and create art, being excited to wake up in the morning to spend time doing cool things with people you love and improving your craft, being sad in the afternoon because the day is over and all you wanna do is stay and keep acting. There is also a very healthy work/life balance philosophy at the school, which allowed me to have such a serene experience of it all, my mental health has never been this good while I have also grown the most as an artist, demonstrating that it is not by killing yourself with work that you improve, but to work efficiently. I will eternally be grateful for this school for making me discover who I am as an artist and as a human being, these people believed in this little 17 year old from Italy and I know that this community will always be here for me if I ever need anything. This place is a source of energy, art, love, passion for film and growth, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves art and wants to work in film, it prepares you to the real world in an exceptional way.
